Pain Cave

Kadence with the Kestrel

Training is important!
I’ll admit- I’m not one to do a lot of training.. when I was an age grouper triathlete, I got a job as a bike courier so I could “train” and earn at the same time. Then, at the end of the day, I’d swap cycling garb for runners gear.. run down 4th st. to Princes Island Park.. cross the Bow and chunder up the embankment stairs… then I’d swap out running garb for simming gear at Lindsay park for their “loonie hour.”

As a commercial painter, I’d cycle 20~ 45 minutes to and from job sites.. laden down with all of my work wear, work tools, and food for the day.. and I’d pick up food for dinner on the return trip. And work was.. a sort of work out.

But I work 10.. 12.. sometimes 14 hour days sitting at my hand crafters desk. And have worked these hours for the last 4 to 6 years of running my own hand crafting company from home. So, training time is dificult to find, sometimes.

Well, it was but I’m being more contientious about time alotment~ what I do and when I do it. I have, also, added in a Concept II ergometer/ rowing machine.. sure, it’s a Model A but it still works. I have to wrastle it to hide it away and pull it out but.. it works just fine! Half hour rowing + 60 minutes spinning on the Kestrel is.. starting to be *NOT ENOUGH*

I’m surprising myself in that I find myself, when out and about, or when working putting kits together for sale.. thinking about my next bout of PAIN in the cave.. so- for motivation, inspiration, and notification(?) I’m going to start logging my training.

next on the agenda…
…add in stretching for increased flexibility.. watch for notes on that. Back when I was studying to be a fitness trainer/ aerobix instructor, my first go- round in YYC.. I was pretty hard core in to stretching, even did personal research in to then- current ideas and cutting edge theories.. ordered a couple thick hard cover manuals from some pretty cool folks with the plan of implimenting their ideas locally.. then I had a beer 😉

Boat001 and.. bikes lineup!
