And to continue on the trend of exceprts from “Ruby Jazz Moonshine” here is..
“Chapter One
~ in which we meet the protagonist for the last time.
I guess this story starts with my death.
I lay there, torrential rain pelting down on to my nearly departed body..
..alone..
..cold..
.. and at least a million miles away from everything I held true, dear, and near to my heart.. at least a million miles away from the one thing that kept me alive.
The blood poured out from violent holes that were ripped in to my most precious possession- my body!
My blood mixed with the sand and soil.. with water and rain.. the rain that was pounding against my craven skull.
I could see my energy diminish as more of that glowing liquid dripped out.. mixing with the life force of the jungle.
Some people think that to die that way is somewhat.. peaceful.. somewhat honorable. Let me tell you~ as one who has been and knows.. neither is it peaceful nor honorable.. and neither it is even remotely glamorous! It grants you no seat in heaven, it affords you no “special treatment” in the afterlife.. it just is!
And when you are dead.. you’re dead. It’s pretty much the same as being alive, with almost the same rules, except- your’re deadd.
And what you experience during death
can scar you for lives to come!”
